Moments with Millman

Hi, I'm Millman! Probably the first time hearing this name (cue the name calling), but yes, I'm the person behind the camera! I will skip the "top 3 fun facts" about me and will answer this question. So why wedding photography?

As a wedding photographer, my job is to help people write their love stories that are precious and sentimental to them. To me, wedding photography is the best celebration of human connection. Starting out as a fashion photographer, island hopping around Hong Kong, then moving to graduation shoots. The energy, the people, and the process. I can't get enough.

So I see myself akin to being an NBA athlete (delusional haha). I go out to the arena and pour my heart into capturing every special moment at your wedding. I shoot. I celebrate. I document your moments, big and small. That is what I live for, and I can't think of doing anything else that gives me this much joy and fulfillment. I do hope my photography conveys this sentiment. Cheers!

If you think I'd be a great match for you, send me a message and let's get to know each other! I love to create lasting relationships with my clients and would love to be able to capture all of your major milestones.

Millman's Song, Millman's Story...

There is no exact moment when I started my photography journey, but I can say with conviction that my global upbringing has shaped my endeavor in wedding photography. Starting as a portrait photographer back in college, I roamed the streets of Hong Kong with a Canon AE-1 film camera inherited from my grandfather. This film camera was a portal to my love and understanding of photography.

With this in mind, I transitioned from film to digital and photographed my college friends using my DSLR. In Hong Kong, I collaborated with boutique fashion brands as I snuck into quaint villages and nearby islands shooting fashion portraits that juxtaposed with local surroundings. These experiences opened my eyes to the world of portrait photography.

While studying for college in the United Kingdom, I darted across ancient UK towns, shooting under Gothic and Victorian architecture and doing photo gigs at local nightclubs. Then during grad school, I fell in love with doing graduation shoots and capturing everyone's successes and acomplishments.

These experiences made me realize wedding and portrait photography is not simply about taking a photo of a posed person but an endeavor of human connection. It is not just about the image itself but rather the process of capturing a moment. So much happens beyond just the photograph it becomes easy to forget about the human connection and immersion of yourself in that unforgettable moment. That's why as your wedding photographer I want to make your experience as comfortable and joyful as possible!

Fun Facts About Me!

  • I am trilingual - Growing up in Hong Kong with local parents, I have developed a dual-channel lifestyle where Cantonese is the household and family language, followed by English in school, and Mandarin at work and socially.
  • A sucker for home cooking - The culture shock when studying in the United Kingdom has edged me to the pleasures of home cooking. From Carbonara, dry-aged steaks, to pork katsu curry rice, turning local ingredients into nourishing meals has become a therapeutic and relaxing hobby for me.
  • A Star Wars fanboy - Once again crediting my maternal uncle, I was gifted a Star Wars ten-disk box set with the original trilogy (and the ever-polarizing prequels). I watched every single episode, front to back and back to front, and spent hours of my childhood delving into the makings of the series.
